Garath’s Journal - Within Tarek Nev

What the hell is Yorell even still with us for? He is just the boat we hired. I can appreciate that there must be many rare herbs that only grow in such a volcanic place, and much wealth laying around. But that’s NOT why Kelgryn and I are here in Tarek Nev. Kel needs to destroy the Urloc, or destroy his sword, or whatever. I am here to witness what is going on, and to try to, if possible, keep such evil things from becoming powerful again, thus starting huge wars all over again. That would be bad. Millions of innocent people would die. If I have a chance to contribute to the prevention of such an occurrence, it is my duty to help. Yorell, on the other hand has already gotten us into trouble with his impatient, money and power hungry attitudes. Our new friend Aroth was nearly killed when Yorell jumped into combat (which he is not very good at) instead of trying to help him in other ways that Yorell is better at, such as healing, or blinding the enemies, or casting protection spells on him.

I welcome his input in our endeavors, and he has many useful skills, but from now on I must try to protect the “mission” by keeping Yorell out of trouble. No more “I’ll just push this button because I am sick of discussing it logically.” or ” Hmmm….. I’ll just step up on this evil statue of the dark god Orgiana and see if there is anything valuable, the hell with searching this place systematically with familiars and spells, maybe I can even get Garath to come up here to translate this inscription.” or ” Even though it is not important now, I’m gonna try to get these guys to search the towers of this temple, there might be something valuable up there.” These things must STOP. There could be millions of lives at stake if the evil in this forgotten city is unleashed! What if we are all killed because of one of Yorell’s impatient acts? There may not be anyone else to stop it in time. I hope I do not hurt him in my attempt to keep him out of trouble.

I abhor violence unless it is absolutely necessary. I have been in the library for too long. I may have been overzealous in our battle with the shipwrecked Yinca. In hindsight, their deaths may have been preventable. I shall make sure from now on that I will not fight except in defense (unless , of course we are approached by denizens of the evil black hell, then anything goes)
