Chapter 09 - The Wasteland of Thanor

The stalwart adventurers awake from perhaps the worst night of sleep they can remember and nurse the wounds delivered by the hellish hounds of the wasteland. To the south are the foothills of the Rost Mountains. This is a broken scrubland; the site of a vast battle that destroyed the Kingdom of Thenor 8000 years ago. The devastation of the land has forbidden people from resettling all this time. It is now turning into prairie (and marsh to the north).

Website Changes and Rolemaster Projects
I’m in the process of some re-organizing the site, such as having this more dynamic front page where I can post updates and Rolemaster news to the site. I will also be adding some new features so my players can have a little more control and are able to add new posts to their accounts. I will also be creating PDFs from some of the material I have on the site and moving away from having it all be in html.
Much more interesting however is that I’ve been much more involved with Iron Crown and Rolemaster over the last year. I was on the RMC team that worked on getting the Rolemaster Classic (RMC) line published. So far the three core books (Character Law, Arms Law, and Spell Law) have been released, as well as Creatures & Treasures. We’re currently working on Campaign Law which will have more new material in it than the previous books. I’m also involved in a couple other ICE related projects including the Rolemaster Classic ruleset for Fantasy Grounds being done by Digital Adventures.
Having this more dynamic format to the site will enable me to post news and releases for the various projects I’m working on.

Welcome Home
Our small group of Nightwings and Friends (Tasher, Cricket, Taelvis, Emmet, Bat, and Kellas) loads all of the ill-gotten valuables into the boat, and employs two prisoners of the Medusa gang to row the boat. On the way down the river is encountered two boats with crossbowman, evidently members of Medusa. Bat makes a poor attempt at looking like he’s supposed to belong here with his rag-tag bloody group of strangers with two Medusa members rowing. The boat orders the Nightwings to halt, while one of the prisoners screams Nightwings, and jumps out of the boat. Kellas shoots him in the arm with an arrow. Tasher knifes the other prisoner and takes his place at the oars. Bolts fly and hit Talvis and Kellas. Bat flew to one of the boat and stabbed a guy from behind, killing him. Taelvis casts a spell and a dirt wall appears on one of the boats, sinking it. Tasher rows on. Bat lands on the other boat and kicks a guy off the boat.

Chapter 07 - When You’re Hot, You’re Hot

In the Nick of Time
It is the end of the pre-dawn quintar on the 25th of summer in Sel-Kai. Already steamy and odiferous, today promises to be another hot day in canal town. Cricket, Tasher, Taelvis, and Emmet head to the library quarter aboard the Blue Drake. The others have either recuperation or other ugent business to attend to. En route they distribute herbs and some treasures from the previous few days’ adventures. Taelvis evaluates some gems.

Chapter 06 - What About Bat ?

Mass Carnage, Part Deux
- The battle continues as reinforcements arive - 2 women and 3 men.
- Moth hits the spell-user with a throwing knife but gets blasted by fire from his wand.
- Raen gets attacked by a man with a scimitar just as he casts a spell…it misfires but hits one of the other men with a crossbow and ties up his legs. Raen shortly drops due to an attack by the demon.
- Moth closes with the caster and knocks him down with a hard hit with his dagger. He follows up with a punch and sends him reeling. Emmet joins the fray and knocks out the caster. Moth slits his throat - no coming back for him.
- Meanwhile Tasher attacks one of the warriors and knocks him down, then goes through the electric field in the doorway and attacks one of the new combatants - a women with a scimitar.
- Dag goes through the electric field and cuts down the demon.
- A large gap-toothed Shay with a huge sword hits Jerig and knocks him to the floor then exchanges blows with Dag.
- Cricket in the meantime fights a women with a scimitar and leather armor.
- Emmet joins the fray and tosses around the large Shay and one of the women.
- The large Shay, now very upset, starts frothing out the mouth and going nuts! Everyone attacks him - Cricket knocks him down with a well-timed punch, Moth stabs him in the arm and Dag hacks at his leg.
- The last man standing, the one with the crossbow, finally goes down to Dag.
- Raen asseses the situation and heals the Nightwings.
- A brief exploration of the castle finds several treasures and an old Healer who had been chained in a tower.
Chapter 05 - Gone Underground

The Usefullness of Drugs
- Raen produces the Resha flower, a rare euphoric herb that he claims allows mental contact with a friend with many miles. Tasher volunteers to eat it.
- After several seconds Tasher begins to feels woozy and must sit down. He begins to feel the presence of his friends and soon finds Bat’s mind and contacts him.
- Bat’s Story: “I went to the Golden Hand to meet about an Alliance against the Red Dragons. But it was an alliance between them and a trap. They captured me and gave or sold me to The Medusa. I am outside the city. They took me on a skiff upriver, perhaps a few miles away. I think they will be taking me somewhere tommorow but I don’t know where. I’m in the bottom of a ruined tower in a swampy area. At least a dozen men are here. I’m tied but unhurt. They have been sounding ominous, I don’t think they have good things in mind for me.”
- The gang heads to their homes for a nights sleep, tommorow they must formulate a plan.
Chapter 04 - There is no honor among thieves, or demons

A Night at the Barge Inn
- Close to evening the gang converges on the Barge Inn in the Sighing Docks to retrieve a trunk for the weasly money-lender Sentis Jorlsak. Raen has previously arranged for a private room on the second floor near the privy, and close to the owner of the trunk - an old man.
- With the old man eating dinner in the common room downstairs, Jerig sends his spider pet into the old man’s room - and locates the trunk. Tasher offers the old man, who looks more like a hobo then anything, the remainder of his pork dinner. The old man is rude and refuses it.
- While the spider is in the old man’s room a Shay man comes in and seems to spend time studying the trunk. He opens up the trunk and seems to empty it of it’s contents into a small sack.
- Jerig alerts Dag who heads downstairs to tell Raen and Cricket of the events. Jerig, not wanting the Shay to get away with the loot they were supposed to steal, confronts him in the hallway where he seemed to be on his way to the window over the canal. He convinces the stranger to release his spider (which he picked up and put in his sack), and tries to negotiate some sort of monetary exchange.
- Meanwhile, Raen has decided the best person to deal with the thief is the old man - he informs the old man someone has just robbed him - Old man, appearing quite angry now, pushes Raen aside and rushes upstairs. Upon seeing two seedy looking men in the hallway, one with a sack, he forstalls the asking of questions and proceeds with magical incantations. Jerig and the Stranger run toward the window. The green glow of the Essence begins to form around him, coalescing into a shimmering ball in his hands. With a loud holler, the green ball shoots from his hands, turning pure white and getting larger until it explodes into an ice cold blast. Jerig and the Stranger dive out the window, falling into the sewage filled canal below - luckily adjacent to the docks where Tasher is in his boat, caressing it softly.
- The old man rushes to the window, beginning the dreaded incantations again, collecting the green glowing Essence in his hands where it shoots from his hands, forming a single bolt of green glowing ice as it advances through the air to the canal, and the stranger, where it freezes the water it hits.
- Unfortunately for the normally suspicious old man, he never expected a threat from the kindly gentleman downstairs who informed him of the thieving stranger. He had little time to wonder as the ball of the morning star crushed his neck from behind.
- Our wise Nightwings now figure it is time for a hasty exit and flee into the night.
Chapter 03 - Breaking in is hard to do
3-16-6050 Morning to Evening
- As usual, the day is one of rest and recovery for the Nightwings after the previous night’s scrapple with the Red Dragons. All except for Jerig who must be bright eyed and bushy tailed for a day at Lemod Charg’s Locksmith shop.
- Raen and Dag go to the Seer of Sotor (the Lady Zaigon)
- The dusty interior smelled of rotting vegetation and urine
- Lady Zaigon leads them to a small room with walls of black cloths.
- Raen sits across from the Seer at table upon which sits a ball of crystal. He asks “Where is my brother”. As the rancid smells get stronger Lady Zaigon says she will be summoning and speaking to dead spirits to answer his question. A ghostly form appears behind her and she responds “Your brother is no longer in the city, he has embarked on a long journey. He is within the Sea of Tears”.
- Raen asks another question, “Who can help find my brother”?….the answer “Your enemies will help you find your brother”
- Dag asks for a general horoscope to which Lady Zaigon tells him “Your future is very bright and you will become very wealthy beyond your wildest expectations, despite your shady background”.
Chapter 02 - A Fistful of Orlini
3-15-6050 - Predawn
- That evening the Nightwings bring Tasher’s unconscious body back to HQ, somehow managing to pole The Blue Drake through the dark canals with Tasher’s bloody Boat pole.
- A short period of paranoia ensues. They change their clothes and try to clean up. Tasher goes up the roof, tosses his bloody clothes off and passes out. Everyone sleeps.
- Jerig is suffering from a cut arm. While Raen healed the muscles the arm is still hurting.
Chapter 01 - The Elgata Debacle

- The Nightwings hang out at the Cold Barley Soup Kitchen - Tasher arm-wrestles, Jerig and Cricket cause problems, Raen identifies targes that may have valuable healing herbs in their possession.
- Rumors of brutal murders - bodies being found that have been ripped apart.
- Cricket and Jerig pick pocket some fancily dressed Y’nar man and he seems to let them at the same time he magically (?) makes himself look like Jerig. The man had a piece of paper stating that “the holder should not be in the company of known criminals”.
- Stole some Finrot (”fang”) and Fort (”sniff”) herbs and sold them to a “Yorell”. However the bad manners of boarding Yorell’s boat without invitation bought them a favor they now owe to Shaal.
- While poling along they see someone, or something, swimming (?) in the canal. How disgusting! Sel-kai canals are definitely not for swimming.
Vroomfogle & Company Redesigned
Vroomfogle.com has been up for several years now, never really all that great of a website or filled with much content. I had been wanting to redesign it for a while but just didn’t have the time to do so, or much reason since I hadn’t played RM in years.
A recent gaming session revitalized my interest in Rolemaster and Shadow World which has been my gaming world of choice since I discovered it several years ago. This redesigned website will mostly be a resource for my players though I have some Shadow World stuff in the works which will hopefully get approved by ICE and become a valuable Shadow World resource.
